The electric current struck the cupola, passed through the belfry, entered the nave, tore down the ceiling, tore the East window, shattering it in, and carryed the Communion table into the middle of the church. . . .\u201d [Devizes and Wiltshire Gazette 1\/8\/1850]<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">This resulted in repairs having to be made to the chapel. The cost of these repairs are noted in St. Mark\u2019s Charity Account Book [CR2044\/7]. George Coppage was paid \u00a32 10s 1d for repairs to chapel caused by lightning, and Mr. J.B.
